Handcrafted from 13-ply Baltic birch and fitted with four Celestion® Vintage 30 drivers, the PPC412 is revered for its exceptional strength, projection, and tonal authority. Its closed-back design produces an immense, controlled low end with focused midrange punch and a cutting top end — a balanced, harmonically rich voice that translates perfectly under high-gain conditions. For this DynIR, Jim Root personally curated an eight-microphone array to capture every detail of the Tanger 412’s tonal footprint. The selection includes the Beyerdynamic® M201, SE Electronics® RN17, Sennheiser® MD421, Shure® SM57, Neumann® U67 (Tube), AKG® C414 XLII, Coles® 4038, and Royer® R-121 — a blend chosen by Root himself to ensure accuracy and tonal versatility across a wide range of recording styles.
