Fredrik Pihl

Fredrik Pihl is a guitar player from the south of Sweden. He got interested in the guitar at the age of twelve after watching a Guns N’ Roses live concert on Swedish television. A couple of days later his parents bought him his first electric guitar…

Fredrik works as a solo artist, session player, guitar teacher and reviewer and has over the years worked with many well-renowned musicians all over the world such as: Ron Bumblefoot Thal, Mattias IA Eklundh, Brett Garsed, Danny Burton, Dave Martone, Lalle Larsson etc. His work has been mentioned on numerous websites, podcasts and guitar magazines e.g. Guitar Player Magazine, Gitar Plus, Shred Academy, Axe Magazine, Guitar Ink magazine etc.

”You should hear this guy play! He is a Scandinavian guitar phenomenon” – Ron Bumblefoot Thal (ex. Guns N’ Roses, Sons of Apollo, Asia)

”Very Impressive playing” – Jeff Scott Soto (ex, Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman, Journey)

”Pihl’s masterful technique is as scary as his wacky compositional chops. He frightens me!” Michael Molenda (Guitar player magazine)

In 2011 Fredrik released his debut solo album Silhouettes which, according to many critics, was an innovative style of instrumental guitar music. It was followed up in 2017 by his second album Static Alteration.
Fredrik is also part of the progressive rock/fusion band M3 alongside drummer Carl Williams and bass player Simon Hall. They are currently writing music for their first album.
Fredrik is also working as a guitar instructor at JamPlay.com; one of the biggest online lesson sites in the world.
Fredrik uses the Torpedo Hall of Fame as well as the Captor X in his studio: ”Using the Two Notes gear allows me to record cranked tube amps amps in the middle of the night without waking up the neighbourhood or compromise with the sound and tone quality. It makes recording so efficient and I have an endless arsenal of tones to choose from. What’s not to love?!
