Chris started his career playing for UK Post Punk band The Rakes as touring Guitarist and Keyboard player. Chris played with The Rakes for a total of two and a half years and was a permanent and valued session player with them.
In September 2009, Chris was asked to play Guitar, Piano and Bass for a new female singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding.
Since her rise to fame in 2010 she has become the second artist to top both the BBC’s annual ‘Sound Of’ poll and win the Critics’ Choice Award at the Brit Awards in the same year. She has also topped the Hot 100 Billboard chart in America, sing at the Whitehouse for The Annual Tree Lighting ceremony and play by request at The Royal Wedding in April 2011.
Whilst playing a mixture of classic wedding songs and original material, Ellie also sang her version of Elton John’s Your Song for the Royal couples’ first dance. Chris had the honor of accompanying Ellie on piano for this special moment.
In his relatively short career Chris has had the opportunity to work with some fantastic people including Christophe Willem, Cee Lo Green, Katherine Jenkins, Rumer, Jess Mills, Wolf Gang and of course The Rakes and Ellie Goulding and also Brian Ferry.
Chris composed orchestral arrangements for Bryan Ferry’s headline show at the Hollywood Bowl on August 26th 2017. The full orchestra was conducted by Thomas Wilkins. Chris worked closely with Bryan and his team to compose 18 new scores for the concert for a full size Symphony Orchestra. He worked closely with Jessica Dannheisser who assisted in orchestrating.
Chris’s ever growing versatility, ability, and flexibility as a musician consistently brings him invaluable opportunities, with his passion for music at the forefront of everything he does.
