The Torpedo VB-101 is a DI for your head amplifier composed of 3 main parts: a 150W RMS Loadbox to play silently with your amp, a speaker miking simulator powered by the acclaimed Torpedo technology with all your favorite cabs inside and a Post-FX section with all the processing effects you usually need when miking a guitar cab. (Low cut filter, 5-band EQ, exciter, compressor).

Using the Torpedo VB-101

The Torpedo VB-101 is made to be used with a guitar/bass amp.
Plug it in place of your regular cabinet and enjoy all the great characteristics of your audio amplification chain (from the guitar to the amp, including effects pedals) silently!

The Torpedo VB-101 can replace the whole guitar sound recording process with a powerful simulation of the cabinet, microphone, mic preamp and studio acoustics. Choose your speaker among the thirty available, your microphone among the 8 most used microphones in the studio and sculpt your sound with the included effects section (EQ, Exciter, Compressor).

The sound recording is done silently and with perfect control of all the critical parameters.

Applications

In studio

In home / project studio, where the cabins are not necessarily suitable for miking guitar (and the resulting high volume), it allows the engineer to perform a sound recording silent ly without any compromise on the sound.

For studios already equipped for miking guitar (cabins, microphones), it offers an alternative to the regular sound recording process and can be used together to provide a wider range of possibilities in the mix.

Another common use is in the studio when you need to record a whole band in live conditions. The Torpedo VB-101 then allows you to completely isolate the sound from the bass guitar and other instruments without necessarily having a dedicated cabin.

On stage

On stage, the Torpedo VB-101 will be a big asset for the comfort of the musicians and the public.

Find your own sound every night, gig after gig, do not be dependent on the bad microphone or the one not necessarily very well placed, etc.

The sound recording is not “polluted” by other instruments, making the FOH and personal monitor mixes much easier to do and more comfortable for the musicians.

Remiking

In the studio, it can be very interesting to record a raw track that you can later reprocess (we call this “remiking”) at the mixing stage thanks to the Torpedo VB-101. This allows you to concentrate on the music when recording, not on the sound

Of course, you can record both processed and unprocessed signals to your DAW at the same time.
